COMING HOME NOW
It’s so nice coming home now
that you aren’t here to criticize, complain, and argue.
I was so miserable those last few years,
dealing with your women, drugs, and alcohol
and you found fault
in everything I thought,
said, or did.
Now, without you, I can learn to like myself.
So, today, as you beg me to take you back,
don’t think my refusal has anything
to do with bitterness,
or unforgiveness.
It’s just that it’s so nice coming home now
that you aren’t here.
